How It Works
If you are or plan to be a full-time college student, the 2-in-4 program won’t seem much different. You’ll take your usual undergrad courses first and move into graduate-level courses your senior year. Depending on your situation, you may have to take a few summer classes.
Galavotti started Saint Rose as an undecided major. She took a variety of communications and business classes until she honed in on marketing. At the end of her sophomore year, her advisor told her she could graduate a semester early. “I had three options: I could graduate early, study abroad or do the 2-in-4 program,” she said. “I took a summer class during my junior and senior years and got the whole program done in four years.”
Cunniffe had a head start because he transferred 20 credits from a high 体彩app官方网站 early college program. “Many of those credits applied to my major, so I could skip a lot of classes,” he said.
You Can’t Slack Off
While Saint Rose’s 2-in-4 programs let you earn two degrees in a short period of time, you have to stay on top of your game to stay in the program. To maintain status, you have to keep an overall GPA of 3.4 during the first half and an overall 3.0 GPA from the second half of the program. And you can receive no more than one C.
To get accepted into the program, first-year and transfer students both have to have high GPAs and letters of recommendation. A strong work ethic is a given.
Cunniffe was already taking 18 credit hours before he joined the program. He also has a music minor and two jobs on campus. Similarly, Galavotti took a full class load, worked part-time, and participated in multiple clubs on campus while pursuing her degrees. In other words, they both went all in, but they still had time to have fun.
